Arlington Heights Library

The nationally recognized Arlington Heights Memorial Library is the busiest single library in the state of Illinois. The library has been called the Arlington Heights Memorial Library since 1952 when it was dedicated to the memory of the service men and women of the community.

The library began in 1896 as the "Ladies Reading Circle" in the living room of a Victorian home on Dunton Avenue. Today, the Arlington Heights Memorial Library has dedicated itself to informing, educating and enlightening the people of Arlington Heights with free access to the books and resources necessary for education, employment and entertainment.

The Arlington Heights Memorial Library houses one of the largest collections of materials in the state of Illinois with a total of 132,000 square feet, contains over 430,000 items. In addition to books and magazines, there are DVDs, CDs, audio books, large type books, videos, toys, games and puzzles.

Over 75% of residents of the village of Arlington Heights hold library cards. On average, 2250 patrons visit the library daily.
